Poetry

Piano Man

I sit calmly in a chair

and peer beyond my hair.

I watch as you tickle keys;

I grow weak at the knees

You look my way and smile

You say “I’m rambling”, all the while

tears caress my cheeks

and I say “happiest I’ve been in weeks”

Hot cheeked, and warm hearted

I think of kisses in the dark

Hands under sheets – wanted.

Hair and limbs together, well apart.

We consume passion

and yet feel so deeply.

Together we have fashioned

a love held rather freely.

Meant for better things,

without thrones or Eden,

Now rich as kings with

hearts so full of credence.

Together, upward and onward –

So on and so forth –

We persist and continue forward

To new opportunities and rebirth.
