A Million Words Course Through My Head; the Troubles of Being an English Major

So, as it is with my life, once every few months, something happens. These “somethings” are irritating, to say the least, and I would greatly prefer if they didn’t creep up on me, but alas, I can admit they help transform me to a greater version of myself.

Last night, my roommate, who I’d been getting on very well with, said “This isn’t working out” while she sat on her bed with her boyfriend who’d traveled 5 hours to see her, everything in the room, apart from the bed, packed up. That’s the only information I was given, apart from the high hopes she expressed of leaving quietly. “My damage deposit will cover October’s rent”, and she was gone when I woke up. Her room completely cleaned out.

I took this information quite hard, as we were becoming quite good friends, and then she was gone. I don’t know what she meant by “This isn’t working”, but due to the very sad look on her boyfriend’s face, I assume the long distance was getting to them. She left without a peep, and I can’t get my head around it.

On my way home, I thought about the beta fish she was getting her boyfriend to chose for her. I peeked around the corner into her room close to 1am, hoping to see the little guy swimming in his tank, but instead, her desk was gone, her room was packed up, and sad faces greeted me.

Needless to say, I don’t take abandonment well…
